Tier One & Tier Two Training

Tier One Training, September 7 and September 14, 2019.   Click here for registration and more information.

Tier One is a 2-day orientation training on the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence and stalking, the criminal & civil justice systems that respond to those crimes, and available resources in our community.

The training is designed for professionals, volunteers, and community members interested in ending domestic and sexual violence in Fairfax County.

Participants who complete both days of the Tier One training will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Is this training right for you?  Tier One participants must be mentally & emotionally ready to objectively discuss sensitive topics. Sometimes learning about these topics or providing support to other people impacted by violence can trigger issues you thought were in your past.

The first day of Tier One training provides participants with an overview of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Topics also include the impact of domestic violence on children and assessing for lethality or risk in domestic violence cases. Day one also will focus on developing the participants’ responses to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. Presentations will focus on crisis intervention, understanding trauma, safety planning, and advocacy skills.

The second day of Tier One training provides participants with an overview of the civil and criminal justice systems.  Topics include information on criminal cases, protective orders, and county resources available for both victims and offenders of domestic violence.
